Meet Robert Esposito from Rutgers University, New Brunswick! This summer, Robert will be joining our five week Summer Study Spanish & Intern in Spain program. He looks forward to improving his Spanish, learning about the local culture, and experiencing life in Galicia as an intern.

What motivated you to choose Spain?

I studied abroad in Alcalá de Henares, a city outside of Madrid, in spring 2017, and I’ve been dying to back since I got back to the States. Although I got the chance to see a lot of central and southern Spain, I want the chance to see Galicia.

What are your future career goals?

After this program, I am planning on taking a TEFL course, so teaching English abroad is an immediate goal. After that, I hope to work in academics.

What is your favorite quote in Spanish?

“Lo bailado nadie me lo quita.”

What are some of the places/things on your bucket list?

A place I’d like to go is Sardinia, to hear the language spoken there. There are some areas so conservative that they still use Latin “ego” for “I”, which is really interesting that a high-frequency word like that can survive unchanged for centuries. And of course I’d like to complete El camino de Santiago at some point.
