Megan Huff, Nutrition Science-Dietetics student at UC Berkeley.

Meet Megan Huff from Ladera Ranch, California! This Summer, Megan will join our Nutrition and Natural Medicine Program in Peru! We look forward to welcoming her in the Sacred Valley of the Incas!

Tell us more about you:

I am a sophomore at UC Berkeley studying nutrition science–dietetics. I LOVE food and working out, especially spinning. I’m a food influencer; so, my favorite hobby is going out to eat and taking photos of food, as well as shooting recipes for my blog.

What is your main motivation for participating in the program?

I wanted to travel out of the continent and gain hands-on experience in the field of nutrition rather than just sitting in a classroom. I also want to meet new people and experience a different culture.

What organizations are you involved in on campus?

I am co-marketing director for Spoon University at Berkeley, a food publication by college students, an active member of the national co-ed service fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega, and I volunteer at the Berkeley Student Food Collective (a student-run grocery store).

What are some of the places/things on your bucket list?

I want to visit Japan because my mom is from there; and, I’ve never been! I also want to go skydiving!

What are your future career goals?

I want to become a registered dietitian–with this I’d also like to make more nutritious food available in schools, educate people about proper nutrition, get involved in restaurant menu consulting, and maybe start a private practice. I want to continue to build my recipe blog and eventually open a gluten-free/dietary-friendly bakery. I also want to do freelance food photography and social media management.

What motivated you to choose Peru?

To be honest, it was one of the few locations that had a nutrition program. I’ve never been out of North America, so I was really looking to go anywhere abroad. I’m excited to see Machu Picchu and try Peruvian cuisine.

What is your favorite quote?

“If you don’t love yourself, nobody will. Not only that, you won’t be good at loving anyone else. Loving starts with the self.” Wayne Dyer

What is your proudest accomplishment?

Becoming a food influencer on Instagram. @sayimafoodie
