We can’t wait to welcome Linda Luo from Carleton College this summer in La Coruña, Spain! From Wuhan, China, Linda is pursuing a degree in Geology in the USA. Get to know her in this interview.
Tell us more about you.
“I am a rising Junior at Carleton College in Northfield, MN. I am a Geology major and Spanish minor. For me, life is rocks, frisbee, food, and humor.”
What is your main motivation for participating in the program?
“I want to reach a balance between my major and my passion for Spanish. I am indecisive and don’t want to miss out on anything. And this program is just the kind I dream of, allowing me to practice Spanish while gaining work experience.”
What organizations are you involved in on campus?
“I am on the third (yes there are 3 teams) women’s ultimate frisbee team in school (NOVA).”
What are some of the places/things on your bucket list?
“My bucket list would be to go to New Zealand, the Andes, the Caribbean, and Washington state. As for things, I want to learn how to do a cartwheel and backflip.”
What are your future career goals?
“My goal is to pursue a career in the geoscience academia, where I could get a half and half split between field work and research.”
What motivated you to choose Spain?
“I have always wanted to go to Spain and immerse myself in the culture instead of just reading about it on the textbook. I have been learning Spanish on and off since junior high and got extra curious with no outlet.”

What is your proudest accomplishment?
“I walked on crutches with only one weight bearing foot for 2 months in Minnesotan winter (luckily no ice on ground).”
