Meet Jessica Sime from Totowa, New Jersey! This summer, Jessica will be joining our Nutrition and Natural Medicine program in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Peru! Read on to learn more about her.
Tell us more about yourself:
“Seeking cultural enrichment as a first generation American with Peruvian and Nicaraguan roots, I enjoy traveling to different parts of the world to learn firsthand about other cultures and embracing nature.”
What is your main motivation for participating in the program?
“My main motivation is to learn more about the Andean health axis, understand the cultural traditions, and show my appreciation for the wonderful art and landscapes found in Peru. I have fond memories of my grandma, who introduced me to alternative medicine; and, I wish to explore this further.”
What organizations were you involved in on campus?
“Member of Chi Alpha Epsilon and Korea Club.”
What are some of the places/things on your bucket list?
“I would like to see the northern lights and visit a few countries in Asia. I would also like to eventually open a small business based on cultural wellness and community.”
What are your future career goals?
“My career goal is to become more knowledgeable in alternative medicine and construct a plan as to the type of wellness business I would like to establish. I want to embrace the holistic lifestyle and integrate alternative medicine into every aspect of daily life.”
What motivated you to choose Peru?
“I chose Peru to tap into the cultural connection that I shared with my grandma. I want to gain a deeper understanding of shamanism and use that knowledge to give back to both my family and community.”
