Meet Katherine

Katherine from the University of Texas at Dallas
Major: Computer Science Hometown: Houston, Texas, USA

This summer, Katherine will be joining our Europe Internships Program. She will be conducting a programming internship in Germany!

Tell us more about you:“I enjoy running and racing on my university’s cross country team. When I’m not running or studying you can find me out some place taking photos of flowers or other landscape features, enjoying nature, or reading.”

What is your main motivation for pursuing an internship in Germany?
“I have traveled in Europe before and absolutely fell in love with it and knew I wanted to return. I also have cousins in Switzerland; so, I always want to see them when I get the chance to. Interning in Germany gives me a glimpse of what it is like to live in Europe, like my cousins.”

What organizations are you involved in on campus?
“Along with being on the cross country team, I am a leader in an organization called FOCUS (Fellowship of Christian University Students). As a leader, I facilitate discussion in a small group of women about different topics and build deep friendships that will last.”

What are your future career goals?
“I enjoy computer science; and, I want to work on cool projects.”

What are some of the places/things on your bucket list?
“I would really like to visit Thailand. I have a friend there who was an exchange student my Junior year of High School. I also want to visit the Grand Canyon and Mount Rushmore. Something on my bucket list is that I want to go scuba diving.”

What is your proudest accomplishment?
“I am a member of an honors program called CS^2 (Computer Science Computing Scholars). There are only 30 students accepted per year.”

What is your favorite quote? “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” – Wayne Gretzky
