Meet Andrew McAllister from Troy, Ohio! This Winter Break, Andrew will join our Nutrition and Natural Medicine program in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Peru! Read on to learn more about him.
Tell us more about you:
I am a 24 year old Army Veteran who is an Athletic Training Major at Middle Tennessee State University. I also have a chemistry minor and plan on applying for medical school this summer. My career goal is to become a collegiate team physician.
What is your main motivation for participating in the program?
My main motivation for participating in the program is to learn more about alternative medicines and holistic approaches to everyday illnesses.
What is on your bucket list?
I would like to compete in a half Ironman, run a marathon, and go on a Backcountry Elk Hunt in Colorado.
What organizations are you involved with on campus?
President of Student Athletic Training Association; Committee Chair of the Southeastern Athletic Training Association’s Student Senate; Member of the Professional and Education Committee of Tennessee Athletic Trainers Society; and, Member of Iota Tau Alpha.
What motivated you to choose Peru?
I chose Peru because it will allow me to step out of my comfort zone and to experience different cultures.
